Katihar a tiny industrial town in eastern Bihar, bordering Bengal happens to be a center of knowledge and learning. The growing pressures of aspirants create a demand of an institution of higher education. Local academics and the land-donor Sri K. B. jha contributed whole heartedly and the institution was established offering basically the intermediate course in Arts and Commerce. In 1979 it was affiliated to L. N. M. University, Darbhanga. By 1983, the college was accredited to give courses in I. Sc., B.A., B. Com and then B.Sc. K.B. JHA COLLEGE; KATIHAR emerged as a premier co-educational degree college by denoted academic community and co-operating members of Governing body. The unhindered pace of progress in importing value added education made the institution the first choice among student. It is the performance of student that made it a renowned educational institution in koshi region. College was made a constitution unit in 1986. The college is now in the 33rd year of its service. The institution begins its journey with only 49 students and 4 teachers! Today the student strength has swelled to about 4000 of which nearly 20% are girls. There is 62 permanent teaching staff of whom 50% are Ph.D. holder. The technical and administrative staffs contribute whole heartedly towards sustaining the genuine academic atmosphere in the college. K. B. JHA COLLEGE, KATIHAR offers honors courses in Geography, Psychology, English, Hindi, Urdu, History, Ancient History, Sociology, Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Corporate $ Accounts, Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) and Bachelor of computer Application (BCA) are offered as self financed course. College has a boy’s hostel for OBC students. College has one unite of NCC and two action units of NSS. The institution is marching ahead a variety of new professional and vocational course to cater to the aspiring students.
